Steven Douglas Barnes, 73 of Dawson Springs passed away Sunday, February 1, 2026, at Baptist Health Deaconess. Born August 17, 1952, to the late William Douglas and Wilma Lois (Mannahan) Barnes. He considered Suthards Baptist Church to be his church. Steven was a United States Marine Corp veteran; he served in the Vietnam War. He retired from the State Highway Department, and he had a history of being the manager of the Nortonville Auto Parts store for several years. He served as a firefighter and a volunteer firefighter for Madisonville and Greenville for over 3 years.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by 2 sisters, LaVeta Sarver and Sarah Barnes; and nephew, Robert Bruce.
Survived by his son, William Barnes of Dawson Springs; sister, Vivian Burnett of Dawson Springs; brother, Michael Mannahan; 2 nephews, Trace Bruce and Jeramy Bruce; and 3 nieces, Casey Greer, Bailey Burnett and Emily Austin.
Service will be held at 11:00am at Bandy Funeral Home in Nortonville. Burial will take place at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West in Hopkinsville at 1:00pm. Visitation will be from 9:00am - 11:00am at the funeral home.
